Margin helps researchers sort what people said in interviews. You import the transcripts, highlight a participant’s words, and drop them into groups on a wall of sticky notes.

- Open any quote to see the conversation around it, or jump to that spot in the interview.
- Researchers write their own notes beside the quotes on the board.
- Large boards show a map of every group.
- A board can be shared with invited co-authors.
- Private by default: work stays on your own computer unless you choose to host it. It’s designed this way to help with IRB compliance.

Where projects are saved depends on how you use Margin:
- Online demo: in your browser only.
- On your own computer: in a local SQLite file. SQLite comes built into Node, so there is nothing extra to install.
- Hosted: in your lab’s own Supabase database, with sign-in. This only happens if your lab sets it up.
